In his bid to drum up opposition support to take on the BJP government in next year’s Lok Sabha elections, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday met with DMK chief MK Stalin at his residence in Chennai.

The meeting comes days after Naidu held a meeting with his Karnataka counterpart HD Kumaraswamy. “There will be consensus. There is no organisation as of today. I have taken some initiative and I am meeting everybody and after that we will decide on how to take this forward,’’ Naidu had said after a meeting with former Prime Minister and JDS president H D Deve Gowda and his son Kumaraswamy.

Meanwhile, DMK chief exhorted the party cadre to work together for the party’s victory in 2019 and vowed to dislodge the governments led by the BJP and AIADMK at the Centre and state, respectively.

“Let us take a vow to dislodge the communal BJP government at the Centre and the corrupt AIADMK in Tamil Nadu and do our duty accordingly,” he said, addressing party workers at a wedding event at nearby Thuraiyur, PTI reported.

As part of his efforts to forge a front against the BJP, Chandrababu Naidu had also recently met Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Festive offer

Meanwhile, Former prime minister Deve Gowda said that the Congress party would have to co-operate for Naidu’s bid to unite the Opposition to succeed.
