Noida News: In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old man died, allegedly due to drowning, after a taking a water slide at a water park located inside a famous shopping mall in Noida. According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday after when the deceased, identified as Dhananjay Maheshwari, along with four friends, visited the Entertainment City water park at the Great India Place (GIP) Mall in Noida Sector 38A.

A senior official said Maheshwari went sliding at the water park but soon started having trouble breathing and went to take rest on the ground. However, he did not feel any better and was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.

“After collecting costumes and keeping their belongings in lockers, all the friends went straight to the slide. They arrived one by one and started sliding, when Maheshwari suddenly started having trouble breathing,” said a Noida Police spokesperson.

“He sat on the ground to take rest but not feeling any better, he was taken to nearby Kailash Hospital by an ambulance of GIP Mall authorities, where the doctors declared him dead,” the police added.

Following his tragic demise, Dhananjay’s family they arrived in Noida after soon after the tragedy and the body will handed over to them after postmortem is conducted, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Manish Mishra.

The deceased was a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Shivaji Road Extension in Delhi, Mishra said, adding that an investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of Dhananjay’s death.

“We have initiated legal proceedings and the body has been sent for autopsy after which the reason could be confirmed,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family has accused the GIP mall’s management of negligence. Mishra said the family’s allegations against the mall are being investigated.
