Under pressure Real Madrid head coach responded to former club coach Jose Mourino’s comments about potentially being his replacement in comical fashion. Solari said that the current Champions League “has always been more courted than Julia Roberts.”

Santiago Solari is yet to complete his first year with the club and is riling in pressure after a string of poor results, his future at the club is growing increasingly uncertain. After the recently concluded ‘El Clasico’ match against Barcelona, former coach of Real Madrid, questioned the attitude of the players and reckoned that the club’s functioning is ‘unhappy’.

Real Madrid are going through a lowly season and have suffered three losses in ‘El Clasico’ out of the four fixtures played this campaign, with the remaining one concluding in a draw. With the latest victory last weekend, Barcelona now pipped Real Madrid to attain the most ‘El Clasico’ wins.

The ‘El Clasico’ — Spanish for “The Classic” — is a label attributed to the fixture between Real Madrid and Barcelona; two arch-rivals and most successful football clubs in Spain.

The Portuguese international’s comments on his former side comes at a time when Solari is riling in pressure and his future at the club is growing increasingly uncertain. Whereas Mourinho, who has been a free-agent since his sacking at Manchester United earlier this season is being tipped for a second-coming for the position of head coach in Real Madrid.

Mourinho managed Real for three stormy seasons from 2010 to 2013. Over the weekend he was a guest pundit on Qatar-based beIN Sport where he analysed Real’s latest loss to Barcelona.

“Return to a club that I have been before?” said Mourinho, who had two stints at Chelsea and was fired by Manchester United in December.

“If I think the right club, the right structure, the right ambitions, I will have no problem at all.”

“I think it’s really a reason of pride when a club where you worked before wants you back,” said Mourinho.

Solari responded with a joke about Roberts at his press conference on Monday. When asked whether the actress would prefer himself or Mourinho, the Argentine smiled.

“Good question,” he said.

“You should ask her.”

“It is true that we have had lots of chances in recent matches, except in the last one, and we have to take them,” said Solari.
“The dressing room is strong, these players have a lot of experience and a lot of character,” Solari said.

“That does not mean we’re happy with what’s happening.”

“We want to win every game. When we do not win we are not happy, but tomorrow we have another game,” he added.
