Kartik Aaryan to Romance Disha Patani in Anees Bazmee’s Next, Untitled Rom-Com to be Produced by Bhushan Kumar

Disha will be seen essaying the role of a girl-next-door, a character she said she can easily relate to.

Making a mark in Bollywood with his classic romantic movies, the last being Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha (1998), Anees Bazmi is all set to switch back to the love genre from only comedy flicks since the past two decades. His upcoming directorial will see actor Kartik Aaryan romance Disha Patani, who seemed to have impressed producer Bhushan Kumar with her performance in Salman Khan starrer Bharat.

Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Anees said about his yet-to-be-titled film, “My journey with family-centric comedies has been a blast, and now I am looking forward to this one.”

Expected to go on floors around mid-2019, the rom-com will be filmed in Mumbai and abroad. Bhushan, who will be co-producing the movie with Anees said, “This one is a classic Anees Bazmee-style rib-tickler romcom which will have everyone in splits.” About casting a fresh pair, Bhushan said, “Disha’s work I have seen in Bharat which we are producing. She is a good performer. It’s always interesting to present a fresh pairing on screen. As for his leading man, Bhushan revealed that he likes the effortless way in which Kartik slips into his characters.

Voicing the same, Disha said about her co-star, “There can be no better co-star than Kartik who is a pro at comedies.” Disha will be seen essaying the role of a girl-next-door, a character she said she can easily relate to. While revealing that all the characters are college students, Disha shared how she has grown up watching Anees’ films and has waited for long to feature in an out-and-out comedy. Kartik too looked forward to it and said, “I’m sure it will be a crazy, fun ride, Anees Bazmee style.”

Kartik will also be featuring in Bhushan Kumar produced Pati Patni Aur Woh opposite Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar.
