2 Prisoners Killed In Clashes Between Inmates Inside Punjab’s Sangrur Jail
Two inmates were killed while two others sustained grievous injuries in clashes between prisoners inside a jail in Sangrur district of Punjab.
Punjab News: Violent clashes erupted between prisoners inside a jail in Sangrur district of Punjab on late Friday, leaving two inmates dead and as many injured. According to the police, the condition of the two injured inmates was said to be critical, and they have been referred to Patiala for advanced treatment.
A senior official said the police is investigation the incident and the reason behind the prison fight is being ascertained.
“We are investigating what led to the clashes between prisoners. Four inmates were injured in the incident, two of whom later succumbed at a hospital,” the official said.

The official said the injured prisoners were rushed to the government hospital in Sangrur where doctors declared two of the inmates as brought dead.
“Four patients (inmates) from the district jail were brought to the hospital, out of which two were brought dead. Two seriously injured have been referred to Patiala,” Dr Karandeep Kahel told reporters at the state-run hospital.

“Harsh and Dharmender were brought dead while Gagandeep Singh and Mohd Shahbaz are injured”, the doctor said.
He said that the injured, Singh and Shahbaz have injuries on their backs, heads, arms and ears caused by a sharp object.
A police official said further investigation in the matter is underway.
