Priya Prakash Varrier’s Oru Adaar Love Falls Victim to Piracy; Tamil Rockers Leaks Full Movie Online

The year has just started, and Tamil Rockers has already leaked most of the new movies online.

Piracy is really proving to be a menace for filmmakers, with Tamil Rockers being the biggest culprit of the indiscriminate leaking of new releases online. In the past few days, a number of new releases have been leaked online by the piracy portal, and the latest to be hit is actors Priya Prakash Varrier and Roshan Abdul Rahoof’s movie Oru Adaar Love, which was released on February 14.

Oru Adaar Love, which has opened to poor reviews, is a Malayalam romantic comedy film directed by Omar Lulu. The story is about high school romance and revolves around three school children in Kerala. The movie had gained a lot of attention after a clip showing Priya winking flirtatiously at Roshan during a class, had gone viral. The song Manikya Malaraya Poovi, which had been released as part of the promotion of the movie had gone viral after it garnered over one million views and 50,000 likes in 20 hours.

Tamil Rockers has been involved in the leaking of full movies online for a long time, and despite action being taken by law enforcement agencies, they are still operating with impunity. The team of Tamil Rockers keeps changing their domain name constantly, making it difficult to track them.

The movies which have fallen victim to the piracy website this year are, Simmba, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, The Accidental Prime Minister, Uri: The Surgical Strike, NTR Kathanayakudu, Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, Thackeray, and Gully Boy.

Last year Ajith’s Viswasam and Rajinikanth’s Petta had been leaked on the website. The other movies which faced a similar fate were 2.0, Thugs Of Hindostan, Sarkar, Kaala and Vishwaroopam 2.

Preventing piracy from happening has been a difficult task, and despite laws, it still continues unchecked. The government had on February 12 introduced a bill in Rajya Sabha to amend the Cinematograph Act and impose strict penalty to combat the menace of film piracy.

To check piracy, particularly the release of pirated versions of films on the internet which causes huge losses to the film industry and the exchequer, the bill proposes to make film piracy offences punishable with imprisonment of up to three years and fines that may extend to Rs 10 lakh or both.
