IIT Madras also intends to create AI-driven apps by collaborating with small and medium enterprises.

“The Indian IT industry has gone through several waves of technology and survived by upskilling. The current wave of AI is very different. It requires both mathematical insight and hands-on experience. We need courses that strike the right balance between these two. Only then will India be able to produce visible products and services in the AI age,” said Mitesh Khapra, assistant professor at IIT-Madras.

It is a four-month course comprising 80 hours of lecture content which will begin from 1 February and the registrations for the course are open until 24 January.

Also, Indian Institute of Technology in Hyderabad is reportedly launching a Bachelor of Technology program in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the following academic year, that is 2019-2020.
