Karan Johar took to social media on 21 January to announce the release date of the film Good News . Directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Dharma Productions, the film will release on 6 September and stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani.
Good News was initially slated to release on 19 July, but the date was pushed, as Kareena and Akshay were busy with other projects.
While Diljit and Kiara started shooting for the film in 2018, Kareena and Akshay reportedly began work on 19 January in Mumbai itself. Good News reportedly revolves around two couples and a pregnancy. This film marks the second collaboration between Kareena and Diljit after Udta Punjab, and will also reunite Kareena and Akshay, who last shared screen space in Gabbar Is Back.
Karan has two multi-starrer projects Takht and Kalank in the pipeline. Takht, which is set in the Mughal era, stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor and is set to release in 2020.
Kalank is set against the backdrop of Partition. This romantic drama brings together Alia and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles for the fourth time. The film also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt, and will release on 19 April.
