BCCI also revealed India A's squad for their tour of New Zealand on Monday which had some real eye-catching names in it.
Team India cricketer Deepak Chahar suffered an unfortunate injury during the Men In Blue's three-match ODI series against West Indies and is expected to be sidelined till 3-4 months next year, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector MSK Prasad confirmed on Monday (December 23).
"I have my own doubts about Deepak Chahar till March-April," Prasad told reporters.
"We have enough back-ups ready across all formats across all disciplines so Indian cricket need not worry for 6-7 years."
Team India also announced their team for the upcoming three-match T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka and Australia in January 2020.
BCCI also revealed India A's squad for their tour of New Zealand on Monday which had some real eye-catching names in it.
One of them who got the call up was young opener Prithvi Shaw, who recently completed his ban of eight months for failing a dope test. Senior team all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is currently making a comeback from his back injury, has also been named in the 'A' team to build up his fitness.
Prasad, speaking about Shaw's inclusion in the 'A' team said: "He has just come back after a long layoff and we wanted him to play a few more matches."
"We will see where he stands. There is India A series coming off with five ODIs and two Test matches. There is a lot of cricket."
