Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal have postponed their wedding to 2021 given the current situation in the country. They don't want to risk the lives of their well-wishers and family members and given the growing pandemic, they came to a conclusion to push it further.

Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha had been gearing up for their wedding in April 2020 however, due to lockdown, the two postponed their wedding. Amidst the coronavirus scare and the lockdown, Ali and Richa had been spending quality time virtually. The two lovebirds are living separately. While Ali is Delhi, Richa is here in Mumbai abiding by the lockdown rules in these trying times. Richa opened up on about postponing their wedding plans in an interview with Mumbai Mirror. The actress said that the pandemic is far from getting over and hence in the interest of everything they are shifting their wedding to next year. "So, it is only pragmatic to push the wedding to the coming year in the interest of everyone who would wish to attend," Richa Chadha told Mumbai Mirror. Ali Fazal said that if people accept the new normal, then maybe they decide upon a date. "Let’s see when we are able to accept the new normal, then, we will decide on a date, maybe early next year." "We came up with that plan only so our relatives wouldn’t have to travel. We wanted to tackle each side in their own city," Ali added talking about the gravity of the situation while thinking about his relatives. Earlier, during the lockdown, their spokesperson had opened up on the delay of the wedding due to pandemic to later 2020. "Given the current scenario and the unfortunate turn of events owing to the COVID-19 pandemic globally, Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha have decided to postpone their wedding functions to the later half of 2020 tentatively. They wish for everyone to be healthy and safe and at no cost would want their friends, families and well wishers to be affected." Well, we hope the pandemic ends soon and Ali and Richa unite in the holy matrimony soonest. Richa had opened up on the proposal earlier, saying, "He had planned a romantic dinner on a small, secluded island in the Maldives. I thought it was for my birthday - I didn’t suspect a thing. We had finished eating and were sipping on champagne when Ali, being his spontaneous self, asked me to marry him. He didn’t go down on his knee, nor did he have a ring, but that’s all right. After that he took a 10-minute long nap on the sand I think it was because he may have been stressed about the proposal."
