LUCKNOW: A massive war of words has erupted between the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav over the alleged damage done to the official bungalow allotted to the former Chief Minister.
Addressing a press conference in state capital Lucknow, Siddharth Nath Singh, Health Minister in the UP Government, asked Akhilesh to explain what was the need to damage the walls of the bungalow allotted to him when he was the state's chief minister.
Singh also categorically rejected Akhilesh Yadav's claim that there was no swimming poll inside the bungalow and that he carried out the renovation works on his own.
''I want to know from him what was hidden behind walls that he broke. He is somebody who comes from a good family and is well-educated. It is advisable if he himself gives the account of money spent on the renovation works done inside the bungalow,'' the Minister asked.
Singh also hinted that the Income Tax department might ask Akhilesh to furnish proof of his income. Rejecting Akhilesh Yadav's claim that the BJP government in UP was taking credit for the projects initiated by the Samajwadi Party government, Singh said that previous regime only cut ribbons and did not spend a single paisa on those projects.
