On August 20, popular Kollywood personalities including Ilaiyaraaja, Saroja Devi, Sathyaraj, Mano and others took part in the mass prayer to pray for SP Balasubrahmanyam's speedy recovery. While Ilaiyaraaja prayed at his home, several other stars gathered online for a virtual prayer session, hosted by Bharathiraja. SP Balasubrahmanyam tested positive for the novel coronavirus and got admitted to a hospital on August 5.
During the virtual prayer session hosted by Bharathiraja, many celebrities got nostalgic and shared their experience of working with SP Balasubrahmanyam. Bharathiraja began the session on an emotional note.
He said, "We are one big family. We need to get together to pray for one of us. Let Balu get up from the hospital, come back and sing again." Veteran actor Prabhu said that SPB is a renowned singer and good soul. Echoing Prabhu's thoughts, Parthiban stated that SPB treats everyone equally.
