Rain lashes parts of Delhi, 11 flights diverted

New Delhi: As parts of Delhi received rainfall on Friday, 11 flights were diverted between 9 PM to 9:30 PM and between 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). Currently, there is air congestion, stated news agency ANI.

The light showers that hit Delhi and the adjoining areas on Friday evening brought relief to the place from the sweltering heat. The weather department has warned of hail precipitation over and nearby areas of Meerut, Modinagar, Loni, Khair and in isolated areas of Delhi.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted thunderstorm with rain and gusty winds over Delhi and its adjoining areas such as Hisar, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Panipat, Kosli, Sonipat, Bagpat, Gurugram, Rewari, Bawal, Manesar Ghaziabad, Noida, Hodal, Mahendragarh. All the states in the North-eastern region are likely to receive rainfall on Friday, stated the forecast by the Weather Department.
