New Delhi: Responding to his former counterpart Manmohan Singh’s statement that slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ being misused to construct a ‘militant and purely emotional’ idea of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stated that some people have problem even with saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. He made the remarks while addressing BJP Parliamentary Board meeting.

“Earlier people were objecting to ‘Vande Mataram’ but now they have problem with slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. We are the ones who are working for the country while some (opposition leaders) are fighting for their party’s survival”, said PM Modi, in a veiled attack on the Congress veteran.

Besides, the Prime Minister also asked his party leaders to ensure that these values were practiced and followed throughout the country. “Prime Minister Modi at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting today said that we are here for the national interest. PM Modi also said that the nation is supreme, and that development is our mantra”, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Pralhad Joshi informed reporters.
