Delhi Police sends reminder to AAP govt on sanction to prosecute Kanhaiya Kumar after direction from court

The Delhi Police has written to the Delhi government, reminding it about about a pending request for sanctions to prosecute former JNU Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and others in a sedition case. Kumar and others were booked for seditions over anti-India slogans that were allegedly chanting at an event at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2016.

The Delhi Police has filed a chargesheet accusing Kumar and others of sedition. The cops are awaiting permission from the Delhi government on prosecuting the case.

Earlier today, a Delhi court directed the Delhi government to file a status report till April 3 on the issue of sanctions to prosecute former JNU Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and others in a sedition case.
