Allahabad HC stays arrest of Nawazuddin Siddiqui in molestation case, confirms lawyer

The Allahabad High Court has granted some relief to Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the molestation case filed against him, his brothers and his mother by his estranged wife Aaliya. The Allahabad High Court has stayed the arrest of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, along with that of his mother Mehrunissa and two brothers Fayazuddin and Ayazuddin. However, Nawaz’s third brother Munazuddin received no such relief from the HC.

Nawazuddin’s wife Aaliya Siddiqui alias Anjali Pandey had lodged an FIR against Nawaz, his mother and his brothers at Budhana police station in Muzaffarnagar on July 27. She had accused the family of assaulting her and molesting a minor girl in an incident that took place in 2012. The FIR was first filed in Mumbai, however, since the incident occurred in a place that fell under the jurisdiction of Badhana Police Station, it was forwarded to the Budhana Police Station.

In the High Court, the Division Bench of Justice Manoj Mishra and Justice Sanjay Kumar Pachauri heard the case. On behalf of Nawazuddin, his lawyer Abhishek Kumar put his side.
