Agra administration defers reopening of Taj Mahal, other monuments owing to coronavirus surge

In light of the recent spike in the detection of new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the city, the Agra administration has decided to defer the reopening of the Taj Mahal and other monuments until further notice.

Agra District Magistrate Prabhu N Singh said the decision has been taken in accordance with orders issued by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, authorizing the local administration to take a final call on activities to be permitted in buffer zones outside containment zones.

As many as 55 new cases have been reported in Agra in the last four days, DM Singh added. He also said that the city now has 71 active containment zones.
