133 Pleas Challenging Citizenship Law To Be Heard By Supreme Court Today

New Delhi, Jan 22: The Supreme Court will today hear 144 petitions challenging the newly amended citizenship law. The matter was last heard on December 18 2019 and the court had issued notices to the Centre.
The Centre had also filed transfer petitions seeking transfer of similar matters being heard in the various High Courts.
President Ram Nath Kovind had given assent to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 on Thursday night, turning it into an Act.
